Incense Table

2024-2025

Wood, Bronze, Epoxy Resin, Pewter

THE TABLE represents the journey of identity forged through the labor of creation. Each hand-crafted component - from the wooden legs, to the resin table top, to the bronze incense burner - carries its own narrative, shaped by aesthetics inspired by cultural motifs, each going through a process of physical fabrication.

THE TABLE has continuously adapted and evolved from its initial ideation. Each new part is a response to the previous one, creating a layered dialogue between the table and the maker.

IDEATION

The design for the table top and legs were inspired by traditional patterns of clouds and vines.

FABRICATION

The wood for the table legs was glued up and carved using a CNC Machine using V Carve & Easel. A slight chamfer was added to the legs using a rasp and sandpaper. An oil-based finish was applied to the legs to accentuate the color of the Cherry.

The incense holder and parts of the table joints were cast in Bronze & Pewter using a combination of Sand-casting & Lost Wax Casting techniques. A patina was applied to the metals to give an aged feel to the components.

A silicone mold was made to cast the epoxy resin tabletop. The two sides of the table top were clamped together and polished using a sander and a clear coat to give it a glossy shine.
